Phone Tracker

Our phone tracker is a java application which runs on a mobile phone. It communicates with a bluetooth GPS device and records the location at intervals.

At the end of a journey, you have the option to save the locations to a memory card or to send them to Motortrace via GPRS. Sending the data to Motortrace allows you to view your journeys on a map, calculate your mileage and generate journey reports

* The tracker contains an algorithm which is setup to relay coordinates only when neccessary to minimise data transfer. The time or distance between datapoints is configurable.

After registering and verifying your account, please visit http://m.motortrace.com in your mobile phone browser. After logging in, select 'Download Phonetrace' and after agreeing to the terms and conditions you will be given the option to install the software. Some mobile phones will require the [JAR] to install, and some will prefer the [JAD].

Alternatively, you can download Phonetrace with your computer and install onto your phone via usb or bluetooth using software which came with your phone.

Costs

The phone software is provided free of charge, and basic point on a map is also provided free at http://free.motortrace.com using mapping provided by OpenStreetMap.

Only your last location is stored on our servers, and so Reporting, journey animations are not available without upgrading. Other upgrades include more detailed mapping or mapping for a different region and longer term data storage.

A small amounts of data is transferred to the Motortrace servers when you request to send it using the phone software. Your mobile phone network provider may charge you for this data transfer.

All prices are per tracker, per year and include VAT where appropriate.
